In the most recent performances several team
members took part in the 10th annual Ballwin Triathlon held on the
20th. Danielle Brunnworth took 4th in her age group, with Rick
Bahr, Kristen Melter, and Wade Padgett each taking 2nd in their
respective age groups. Andy Koziatek making his first
triathlon debut finished 1st in his age group. Dave Leap was
among others who also competed that morning which started off nice
but quickly warmed up as the race got underway.
Congratulations to everyone who participated!
The week prior to the Ballwin Triathlon saw Rick Bahr along
with Robert Klenk take part in the South County YMCA Triathlon.
Some other performances of note in the multisport is Kristen
Melter in the Effingham 70.3, Stephen Rechtien in the Hillsboro
Biathlon, and Katrina Wingers in the University of Okoboji
Triathlon. Nice work!
There have been
lots of road races popping up as summer is well under way. The
annual Firecracker 5K held on the 4th of July saw a rather big turn
out with Amy Marxkors leading the way with the overall win for the
women! Danielle Brunnworth and Andy Beckerman both took home
1st place honors in their age groups, while Chris Mizel was 3rd in
his age group and Rick Bahr 5th in his. David Bennett, Mike
Maraccini, and Jim Yount also competed in the race.
Scott Kane competed in the Eldon Independence 5K while David
Donald opted for the Firecracker 3K in Steelville, IL. Those
looking for something even shorter found it at first annual Macklind
Mile as Cheryl Bergin and Chip Self enjoyed the fast downhill
course, with Chip taking 3rd in his age group.
Laura Naumann and Cheryl Bergin both competed in the 2nd
annual Schnuck's Salmon 4 Miler, Laura taking 3rd in her age group
while Cheryl was 1st in hers.
The following day saw the 2nd annual Joker's Wild Half
Marathon (new location this year) as well as a 5K and a 1/4 marathon
distance. Cheryl Bergin and Joan Bennett each took 4th in
their age groups for the half, while Jim Yount took 3rd in his age
group for the 5K. Sean Zambruski and David Bennett both took
1st in their age groups in the 1/4 marathon race.
Those looking for a break from the pavement found a few
trails runs this month. The 2nd annual Race to Erase 5K was
held out at Queeny Park on a hilly loop. Jim Yount and Andy
Koziatek both took part, with Jim taking 4th in his age group and
Andy finishing 1st overall. Judy Dorpinghaus and Andy
Beckerman made the trip down to Washington, MO for the 2nd annual
Big Driver XC 5K which is a fairly challenging course.
This past Sunday saw another formidable course, the Missouri
River 8K. Ryan Lane, David Bennett, Jim Yount, Rhonda Saltzman,
Kay McVey, and Katie Benedick all took part in the annual run which
features a nice big climb towards the end of the run.
Great job to all those who raced this past month and keep up the excellent work! Make sure everyone is staying hydrated as the warm weather is finally kicking into high gear now.

Note that runners who scored the most points in multiple categories were awarded what was deemed to be the single honor that best described their year. In other words, our rules are designed to spread the wealth by preventing double-dipping. The exception was Brian Schoenholz, who won honors in the distinctly different categories of running and multipsort.
