Amy Marxkors

Get-to-Know Me:

  • Nicknames:
    "Rodrigo"
  • Date of Birth:
    July 26, 1983
  • Training Distance:
    Anything between a 5K and a marathon
  • Years Running:
    10
  • Favorite Locations to Train:
Anywhere as long as I'm running with friends.
  • Favorite Race:
St. Louis Marathon (Lots of friends and family are around, and the marathon is a cool way to see St. Louis.)
  • How you got started running:
My dad was a runner and I needed to stay in shape for hockey... so I joined my dad on some runs. And voila!
  • Favorite foods:
Chocolate chip cookies, broccoli, bread, and pretty much anything from Starbucks!
  • Favorite movies:
BBC's 5-hour version of Pride and Prejudice, A Night at the Museum, Disney's animated Robin Hood, and any old movies from the 1930s and 1940s.
  • Best experience through running:
Having "casual" running buddies turn into the closest of friends. ...And all the goofy, insane stories that arise from running miles and miles with the same people.
  • Running traditions you may have:
Discovering at the end of the run that I've locked my keys in the car.
  • Craziest moment through running:
Having 8 angry, barking, hunting dogs chase me down a quarter-mile stretch of country road. Also, the 2007 Chicago Marathon was quite an experience.
  • Most exotic running location you've been to:
The early-morning streets of downtown Edinburgh, Scotland, and the top deck running track of a ship sailing the Caribbean Sea.
  • Favorite cereal:
Honey Bunches of Oats, Frosted Mini-Wheats, and Cinnamon Toast Crunch.
  • Favorite ice cream flavor:
As long as it's ice cream, I'm happy. (Well, except I don't like ice cream with cherries and walnuts in it.)
  • Prefer trails or roads?
I like to mix it up, but if I had to choose... roads.
