Get to Know Me :
- Date of Birth
-
1/19/1946
- Training Distance
-
Normal run is 45 minutes 4 to
5 times a week
- Years Running -
I returned to running in late
2005 after an injury induced 10 year layoff
- Favorite Place to
Train -
I need to run on treadmills
due to the past injuries
- Favorite Race -
The Manchester CT. Turkey Trot 5
miler was my favorite. After the 1st half mile uphill, the
remainder of the course was flat to downhill with thousands
of spectators, bands, cheerleader squads, and even a couple
of bagpipe players. It was more like a 5 mile party than a
race
- How I started
Running -
In 1982, I needed to do
something to get back in shape and to stop smoking, so I
laced up an old pair of tennis shoes and hit the streets. I
had a friend who got me into racing after about 6 months and
found that to be a positive motivator
- Favorite Food -
Steak at Outback Steak House
- Best Experience
through Running -
I have met many good people that
have helped make running a positive experience
- Craziest Moments
through Running -
I was starting to wane at about
7.5 miles in a 15 K race (Gasparilla) when two folks,
running steadily, came by. One had on an oversized set of
deer antlers, lit up like a christmas tree, and swiveling.
The other was wearing an oversized set of elephant ears
flapping in the wind. I'm laughing at the memory, but it
gave me a real lift at the time!
Or was the craziest time during my first 5 K when I had to
stop and ask a policeman for directions since I was so far
behind I didn't know which way the field had gone?
- Most Exotic
Running Location -
The
Gasparilla Disance Classic 15 K in Tampa was the most
scenic location I've raced. The flat course has a beautiful
bay on one side and mile after mile of pristine mansions
with palm trees gently waving in the breeze on the other
side
- Favorite Ice
Cream -
I
like anything that Maggie Moo has in the freezer. My
favorite sweet is a vanilla latte at Starbucks
