My dad got me running to get in shape for high school
basketball. I went out for the cross country team freshman
year (luckily no one got cut from the team) and really enjoyed
myself. Never even gave basketball another thought

Pizza, Taco Bell, anything chocolate, ice cream

Showing up late to the St Louis Marathon in 2000. I
gave every one else a 12 minute head start. Good thing
they had chip timing!

All things being equal to trails, but roads are just more
convenient

Oh, they all have a place in my heart, but I think of myself
as a runner since that's how I started
- How did you transition to triathlons? -
I was getting bored with running in college and thought
triathlon sounded like an interesting challenge. It was so
hard and I loved every second of it
- Prefer open water or the pool? -
Open water is so much more fun. Kind of like the
difference between road running and the track. Both are
good for different things
