Race Information
Date
Sunday, September 14th,
2008
Start Time
The Marathon and Half Marathon
start together at 6:45am.
This allows friends and training partners to start together, even if
some are traveling 26.2 miles and others are stopping at 13.1 miles.
Cutoff Times
The race directors reserve the right to
transport to the finish area any half marathoners who have not
finished by the 4-1/2 hour mark and marathoners who have not
finished before the 9 hour mark.
Aid Stations
Aid stations providing
water and GU2O fluid replacement drink will be located at 17
locations along the course – seven along the first 13.1 miles and
ten along the final 13.1 miles. GU energy gel will be
available to half marathoners at one location and to full
marathoners at two locations.
Race Day Logistics
All entrants must park at the
Verizon Wireless Amphitheater (usually referred to as "Riverport").
The parking lot will open at 4:45am, two hours before the 6:45am
starting time. The Amphitheater's parking attendants will direct you
to your parking space. If you would like a bag of dry clothes,
food, etc. to be transported to the finish area while you race,
please attach to the bag the numbered luggage tag found in your race
packet and place the bag in the secure Bag Drop Area. Note:
There will be no race day packet pickup. Race packets must
be picked up on Friday or Saturday at the
race expo in the Ameristar Conference Center.
Beginning at 7:30am (starting at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater),
a fleet of more than two dozen buses will continuously shuttle
between the start and finish areas. The buses will transport
finishers back to their cars at Verizon Wireless Amphitheater after
the race. As parking is limited in downtown St. Charles,
spectators can ride the shuttles after the race start and back again
with their participant from the finish area. Due to the
popularity of the service last year, additional buses will be
available to take spectators to the finish line immediately after
the race start.

time spent waiting to cross the start line will not be included in
your finish time).
Unofficial race results
will be posted throughout the day on results boards located in the
finish area. Official race results will be available on this
website no later than Monday morning.

Special Weekend Attractions
Trails for Tails
While you are waiting for your athlete to finish the
race, you and your dog can take a stroll in the park and help raise
money for a good cause!
The Trails for Tails event is based on dog lovers who collect pledges from friends, relatives, co-workers, etc. to "sponsor" them in the walk. The walk is a leisurely stroll around the Lewis and Clark statue in Frontier Park in St. Charles, and after the walk, everyone is invited to visit the vendor booths, let your dog participate in dog games, enter him or her in one of our contests or just enjoy the camaraderie of other pet lovers.
Tour of Missouri
The
Tour of Missouri is a seven-stage professional cycling race that
will showcase some of the state’s most beautiful roads and rich
history. The race starts on September 8th in St.
Joseph, start of the Pony Express Trail, and finishes on September
14th in the shadow of St. Louis’ Gateway Arch. The
St. Charles stage will be held on Saturday, September 13th
and finishes in Frontier Park, which will also serve as the finish
line for Sunday’s Lewis & Clark Marathon and Half Marathon – and is
just an 800 yard walk from the
race expo, which will be operating from 10am to 6pm.
Saturday’s stage should finish at approximately 4:00pm. In
2007, over 40% of the spectators at the Tour’s St. Charles finish
were Lewis & Clark runners or their families. Join them again
this year for a close-up look at some endurance racers of the
highest caliber.
