Energy-Saving Hats and Visors

Don't waste energy squinting-- in rain or shine.

Everyone wants to save energy these days. Efficiency is king, and we all can appreciate even the smallest of energy-saving tips.

Consider this: By wearing a hat or a visor, runners can save up to 2-3% of their total energy output otherwise wasted by squinting (i.e., tensing the muscles in the face).

Visors

Yep, sunny conditions as well as rainy conditions can contribute to overall fatigue while running, and wearing a hat or visor is an easy way to optimize the energy you are exerting. Hats and visors also shield the skin on your face from the sun's harmful rays, providing extra skin protection during all those long, sun-soaked miles.

But don't grab your favorite baseball cap, which is hot and soaks up sweat. Instead, check out a high-performance hat or visor. These running-specific head toppers are breathable and moisture-wicking, ensuring you stay cool while your face stays protected and relaxed.

Hats

The Nike Daybreak Hat and Visor combine Sphere Dry fabric and a soft bill for ultimate comfort and breathability. Price: $19.99 (visor) and $21.99 (hat). All about lightweight minimalism, the Nike Feather Light Hat and Visor are so light, you'll forget you have anything on your head. Price: $17.99 (visor) and $19.99 (hat). Lightweight mesh and a super-soft fit make the Brooks FLEET FEET Mesh Cap all about comfort and breathability. Price: $19.99.

FLEET FEET carries a wide selection of Nike hats and visors as well as FLEET FEET-logo Brooks mesh caps for your energy-saving needs. Stop by the store to them check out!

Nike and Brooks hats and visors are available at FLEET FEET Chesterfield, FLEET FEET St. Charles, and FLEET FEET Fenton.

Volunteers Needed for Lewis
& ClarkLewis & Clark Volunteer

(It's the best way to get a free shirt without running a race!)

Volunteers not only make race day successful, they make race day possible. Without the help of the dedicated volunteers who cheer on runners, hand out water, and point the way to the finish line, marathons as we know them couldn't exist.

We are currently seeking dedicated volunteers to assist with everything from directing participants on the course to working the bag-drop tent to assisting at the finish line. Whether you have a family member or friend participating in the race, or you just have a passion to encourage others, volunteering is a great way to take part in the Lewis and Clark Marathon and Half Marathon.

Volunteering is as easy as clicking on a registration link. You can access all open volunteer positions, get a description of duties, and choose the time you are available to volunteer.

VolunteerVolunteers can register individually or as a group. We are also seeking groups to provide on-course cheerleading and entertainment. All volunteers will receive a race volunteer shirt and the thanks and appreciation of thousands of race participants. To volunteer or to view available assignments, click here!
