Issue 23
Welcome, Friends!
There is certainly much to talk about in the St.
Louis running community! High school cross country, fall
marathons and half marathons, festive 5Ks, and the
breathtaking beauty of rich, autumn colors.
There is also much to talk about at FLEET FEET! We
are excited to host our second-ever Diva Night. A huge
success this past spring, the FLEET FEET Diva Nights are
filled not only with laughter and fun, but also shoe and
bra fittings, fashion, health information, wine tasting,
and more!
Moreover, we are looking forward to our new Sunrise
and Sunset Social group runs. If you want a little extra
motivation to run as the days get shorter-- or if you
just want a good excuse to hang out with friends-- the
Sunrise/Sunset Socials are the way to go! Take your pick
from an evening run in either Chesterfield or St.
Charles or a morning jaunt in Fenton. Most of all, be
prepared to have way more fun than should be allowed
while working out!
And, of course, cooler air means it's time to stock
up on cold weather gear. From weather-resistant jackets
to CW-X stabilizing tights to convertible mittens
complete with flashing safety lights, we've got some
pretty cool products to keep you running all winter
long!
We look forward to seeing you!
Sincerely,
Your Friends at FLEET FEET St. Louis

We are excited to send
out the FLEET FEET Flyer, and we would love to hear back from you!
Feel free to send any comments directly to me via
email. Happy
Running!
Sincerely,
Amy Marxkors

Wounded Warriors Shoe Donation
Program
From the time an American soldier is wounded in Iraq or
Afghanistan to the time he or she arrives at the Landstuhl
Medical Center in Germany can be as little as six hours. The
Landstuhl Medical Center is the largest American hospital
outside the US and is able to provide both primary and tertiary
care for wounded US service personnel in all branches of the
military-- Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard.
The outstanding efficiency of the US medical response system
gives wounded soldiers a chance to live and recover from their
injuries.
Because the soldiers arrive at Landstuhl dressed only in
operating room gowns, there is a growing exigency for
post-operation personal supplies. One serious need at Landstuhl
is proper footwear for soldiers once they begin
rehabilitation. FLEET FEET St. Louis, in conjunction with the
Reserve Officers' Association, is dedicated to providing new
shoes for recovering soldiers at the Landstuhl Medical Center.

Over the past year, FLEET FEET St. Louis has provided over
150 new, technical shoes-- over $13,000 worth of shoes in retail
value-- to the local Naval Reserve Officers' Foundation for just
$15 a pair. These shoes are now being used by soldiers
undergoing rehab at Landstuhl.
FLEET FEET St. Louis proudly invites you to join us in
support of the Wounded Warriors shoe donation program. From now
until the end of October, you can donate to the Wounded Warriors
Program and help supply wounded soldiers with the proper
footwear to aid in recovery and rehabilitation. Just $15 buys a
new, technical shoe for a recovering solider. If you would like
to donate to Wounded Warriors, simply fill out a check (in $15
increments) payable to the Reserve Officers Association (or
ROA), with "Wounded Warriors" noted on the memo line. Please
mail all checks to FLEET FEET St. Louis, 3813 Mexico Road, St.
Charles, MO, 63303.
Your donation makes a difference in the lives of US soldiers!

FLEET FEET Sunrise/Sunset Social Group Runs
Shorter days! Cooler weather! Crazy political times! The
need for a little motivation! What's a runner to do?
Join a FLEET FEET Sunrise or Sunset Social, of course.
FLEET FEET is proud to announce a new series of group runs,
the Sunrise and Sunset Socials. The Sunrise and Sunset Socials
are weekly group runs designed to bring together runners of all
different ages and abilities for group runs in a fun, relaxed
setting. Running routes vary from 3 to 6 miles in length
(depending on location), and you have the choice of running in
Chesterfield, St. Charles, or Fenton. (Or, if you are feeling
spry, all three!) Most importantly, Sunrise and Sunset
Socialites will head out for food and drink after the run.
(After all, running is all about having a good time.)
Don't let the presidential candidates do all the running
this fall. Join us at the FLEET FEET Sunrise/Sunset Socials!
Both Chesterfield and St. Charles will host Sunset Socials.
Sunset Socials will meet weekly from November 4th (when Daylight
Savings Time ends) to March 6, 2009 (when Daylight Savings Time
begins).
The St. Charles Sunset Socials will take place on Tuesday
nights at 7PM from our FLEET FEET St. Charles location. There
will be a 4.5-mile route and a 6-mile route from which runners
can choose. After the run, the St. Charles Sunset Socialites
will head to IHOP for some food and drink. The first
St. Charles Sunset Social is Tuesday, November 4th. (Yes, that
is election night! What better way to relieve some of the stress
of politics than going for a run with a few friends?)
The Chesterfield Sunset Socials will take place on Thursday
nights at 7PM. Runners will meet at the West Bridge Bank on the
north side of Highway 40 at Boone's Crossing. Runners can then
choose to run from 3-5 miles on the levee path. After the run,
Chesterfield Sunset Socialites will head to East Coast Pizza
(across the parking lot from FLEET FEET Chesterfield) for pizza
and drinks. The first Chesterfield Sunset Social is Thursday,
November 6th.
Fenton will be hosting the Sunrise Socials. The Sunrise
Socials group runs will meet year-round. Runners will meet at
FLEET FEET Fenton on Saturday mornings at 7AM. Fenton Sunrise
Socialites will run a 5-mile route and then head to St. Louis
Bread Company for coffee and breakfast. The first Fenton Sunrise
Social is Saturday, November 8th.
If you have any questions, please contact Kristen via
email.
We hope to see you there!

Apparel Spotlight:
Mizuno Blaze Warmer Top (Men's and Women's)

If
you are looking for lots of warmth
without lots of bulk, check out Mizuno's
Blaze Warmer Top. Mizuno's Dynamic
Function Cut, a superior design
technology that coordinates fabric
characteristics with specific sport
patters, eliminates stress and allows
unrestricted motion for better
performance. The tightly woven two-way
brushed stretch fabric wicks
moisture, traps heat, and resists cold
air penetration. The result? A sleek top
layer with a remarkable warmth-to-weight
ratio that is unsurpassed. From daily
training runs to chilly 10K races to
that wintry trip to the grocery store
(for there's no denying this top looks
great with jeans), the Mizuno Blaze
Warmer Top is on duty.
See what FLEET FEET staff members
have to say about the Mizuno Blaze
Warmer Top!
Chris Mizel: "I don't like big,
bulky shirts, but I also don't want to
freeze. The Blaze Warmer Top
is light enough and sleek enough to race
in. It's as warm as a coat, but it has a
much softer, snugger fit."

Amy
Marxkors: "I love how soft and warm it
is! It's like wearing a blanket-- only
much more practical and flattering.
The sleek cut is form-fitting without
being too tight, allowing plenty of room
for a snug base layer underneath."
Andy Koziatek: "This is my favorite
cold weather shirt. Even when it is
bitterly cold and there is a brisk wind,
the tightly-woven fabric keeps me just
as warm as would a much heavier top.
This is my go-to shirt for snowy trail
runs."
Price: $69.99
